Colombia UK Visa

I am a UK citizen and am having a baby with my boyfriend who is a Colombian national. He is living in the UK on a Student Visa. His visa runs out a month after I am due to have the baby.

I was wondering if there's any way he could stay longer in the UK? We are thinking of getting married - would this change the visa arrangements?

Thanks very much,

Re: Colombia UK Visa

You could sponsor him for a spouse visa if you were married but you would need to meet the financial requirements in order to do so which may be difficult if you are on or about to start maternity leave. Are you currently working and/or do you have significant savings? There is more information available on the wiki.

Does it need to be the UK?

The OP and her family can also consider moving to another EU country (not UK). The EEA family permit will be a lot easier to apply for than UK spouse visa.

For UK spouse visa - have you live together with your Colombian bf for 2 years?

The OP also needs to know that getting marry in the UK for foreign nationals will require 28 days notice.

You may wish also to find out requirements from Colombian consulate for registering the birth. I would guess they may wish translations and apostille stamp of the birth certificate.
