Brit Looking to move to Peru
Hi All,
Just wanted to send my first message as just joined the sight. As a Brit looking into making the move to Peru to be with my fiance, finding comfort from this website in knowing I am not alone in my plight!
If there are any Brits currently living in Peru, would love to hear from you.
Many Thanks All
Tx

Re: Brit Looking to move to Peru
Hi, I moved out to Peru back in May last year (2013), I'm in Lima. Life here is certainly different, so do be prepared for that. If my advice isn't too late, make sure you bring originals and copies of all your documents inc education certificates etc, and get several official copies of your Birth Certificate too.

I presume Peru has an affordable cost of living.
What is needed to be officially able to reside there?
At age 60 I can still teach English.
Only partial UK pension.
Maybe save several thousand quid.
Any info please?
Thanks.

Would interest me why someone would consider Peru (other than family reasons)?

Some people are seeking affordable countries to live in as the financial crisis deepens and things worsen for life in the west and big brother everywhere.
Don't you think?

I just think it's a myth that you can live cheaper in Peru. Your money only takes you further, because you lower the standards. Property isn't that cheap in Peru, you have too many restrictions, health care is also expensive , water pollution, crime etc. There are plenty of countries in Europe where you can live just as cheap, with a higher standard.
