Acceptable Background for Permit Photos
To whom it may concern,
Firstly good morning, I’m writing a quick note in the hope you can clear up a small concern of mine. I’m in the process of getting together the correct documentation prior to a work permit application being submitted. My employer has informed me I need to provide immigration with the two passport size photos(one standard, one profile)on a white background only and the current photos I’ve sent them may not be acceptable. Here lies my first concern as I have checked the immigration home page FAQs and also checked with the CaymanNewResident website and both mention that the photos must be of passport quality but do not state anything about being on a white background only.
The photos I’ve currently provided with my application I have also used for my recent passport renewal with the passport office, so I’m hoping they are of acceptable quality. The current photos I have provided have been taken from a passport photo booth in my local post office which has more of an off white/ light grey or cream background-opposed to plain white. I have looked around the city today and cannot find any passport photo booths locally that have a clear white background, they all appear have a similar off white/ light grey or cream background to the one I’ve used, can anyone please confirm is these are acceptable? My other concern is I’ve provided a notarised copy of my marriage certificate to allow my wife be my dependant and it is stamped and signed from my local solicitors office(which I had to pay quite a hefty fee to get done) yet my employer is again concerned that although it is stamped and notarised, the stamp does not read “Certified copy” and is worried it may not be accepted by the immigration office. Could anyone with a similar experience help clear up my concerns and hopefully the documents I’ve provided are acceptable.
Thanks in advance
David

Re: Acceptable Background for Permit Photos
Anybody dealing with the Immigration Dept in Cayman is dicing with death-by-exasperation, but even so I have to say your employer's fears seem to be a bit unnecessary. However... you will have to do what he says, I guess.
For the photos, refer him to Cayman Resident's advice: that may reassure him. If you really, really MUST have a white background, you'll have to get the photos taken at a specialist photo-shop, not a booth.
As for the notarised copy - again, what you have would be acceptable to Immigration, but if your boss insists, you'll just have to revisit the notary and get him to put a rubber stamp on it.
