Default Can I work in Bermuda on a spousal visa?

My husband really wants to work there but it is difficult for both of us to find a job and move there at the same there.

I am a nearly qualified P&C actuary. Being a childless housewife would bore me to death. I genuinely enjoy going to work everyday. Internal transfer is impossible because my current employer does not have an actuarial function in Bermuda.

So my question is, is it feasible for me to find actuarial work in Bermuda, if I live in Bermuda on a spousal visa?

Thank you!

A simple answer would be no. Bda is really tough on gving out work permits, but from what I recall, if a job came up that has been advertised in Bda and no suitable Bermudian is available, the employer can then submit an application to employ a non Bermudian. If accepted, you'd get your own work permit. In your line of business, I could well imagine that such a vacancy would be possible . I suggest you visit the offices in Bermuda of insurance companies, and see what comes up, as local talent is scarce.

No you have to get individual work sponosred visas or you can be a non working dependent only. But insurance is a big thing in Bermuda and you should readily find a willing employer sponsor. As well as insurance companies, you could also try the accountancy firms which will normally have an actuarial department.

My husband got the job offer, we went for a reccie and I used the two working days in the trip to secure a job and sponsorship for myself.
