There are actually quite a lot of positive comments from people who know NS.

It helps when you can get past the stereotypes and stats that often don't affect people's lives.

Great post, and plenty of food for thought for others heading your way. No apologies necessary for the long post.. it was all worth it IMHO

On the matter of mortgages. We took out a 'new immigrant' type mortgage under Scotiabanks 'start-right' program. They required us to put down 35% and to prove in addition that we had 2 years mortgage payments to hand, which was quickly accounted for by us once we were in the house and started setting up in country
There were no added extras over and above that for us being new to Canada.
