Citizenship Yay!

Yes thanks.
It also asks when your date of travel is and I'm unlikely to get that right either. ;-)

BTW I notice they're asking for a "Canadian issued travel doc".
The only thing I've had is PR cards- which I won't have when I submit my passport application.
Anyone run afoul of that?

Watch this space. Hoping to put something up Sunday in the Leaf!
Not sure what a Canadian issued travel doc is.
I think when I got my passport I just took down the photos, Citizenship certificate and photo ID.
Perhaps it is the certificate?

I'll find out today. Someone told me you can't apply on the same day as the ceremony as it takes a day to get it into the system. However it's not as if the passport office is inaccessible for me- I can actually get there in my lunch hour at a push. Will see!

The office downtown had a wait of about an hour for the passport.

It's 48 hours for the system to get updated at the moment. So I can apply Friday!

See my note above - mine took 48 hours but I was told it can be less. I was close enough to call in to check a little before but no luck!

They actually tried to deliver it last Friday- exactly 7 calendar days turn-around. I picked it up last night... Pretty impressive!

Re: Citizenship Yay!
Can anyone verify whether they also take away your UK passport at the ceremony? I have just been told by someone, second hand that this recently happened to someone they know. It seems hard to believe but I thought I would just see!

Absolutely not. They do take away your PR card. I was happily chatting to the guy at the passport office about dual citizenship and my dilemma if Scotland had achieved independence earlier in the year. He was politely interested but there's no issue whatsoever with dual nationality (I think tri nationality is an issue).

Congrats to the newly minted Canadians .
