Default 30 years about today.

I've been struggling to wring out of my addled brain the date of our first arrival in Canada, but I think it was today +/- a few in 1982. We arrived after 5 years in California (so 35 years since leaving the UK in total) across a land border from the US (Saulte St. Marie for irrelevant reasons) obviously by car and with our then 6 week old first child in the back seat.

We stayed in Toronto for about 4 years, then moved to Germany for about 8, returning in 1993 and living here for most of the year since then.

What to say?

I suppose a few points of advice:

Quickly learn to avoid Canada's Wonderland.
Never watch Iced Hockey.
Never buy a Ham and Swiss with Honey & Mustard dressing from Timmies.
Only drink Canadian lager when necessary.
Avoid sweet potato fries.
Celebrate the years of Trudeau and his successors.
Lament the ludicrous destructive fools currently in the federal government.
Leave before you retire.

HTH.

I know, but here's another one. roofingman is clearly well over the age when he should be permitted to post (or to drive anything at all, let alone a Cadillac, why would anyone be proud of that? I wouldn't be seen dead in one).

I know, but people have strange ideas about what type of car is a dream must have car, my OH's for example is a Starsky and Hutch car, I think they are ugly and it's like sailing rather than driving, which is how I imagine a Cadillac would feel

There are also those that think a Tim Hortens Ham and Swiss is a decadent treat....

Err why? I could drink water from the tap in the UK, I can atm in Red Deer, but I have to get the water tested before I know if it's safe to drink from the tap in my new place...

My dick got huge in Canada. Something in the water, I think. No Cadillac though, perhaps when I'm as old as Novo.

I'll stick with the Hyundai and the Yaris until we leave. After that? I'm thinking of either a Renault Clio, a VW Golf or a Fiat 500.

I'm surprised though that you drink water: I've heard fish f*** in it.

Oh, not directly, but it's in the ice cubes.
