25 years done and dusted....
17 April 1987 - Our Canadian drama began landing in Ottawa.
Last day in HM Forces 15 April, joined HM's Canadian Forces the next day and departed for Canada the next....
At 25 years old.....with two small kids and a Canadian better 1/2 in tow, we arrived in Chilliwack, BC, 21 April.....Our only regret was not jumping into the housing market immediately instead of buying furniture and cars with our cash instead of using it as a down payment and sitting on lawn furniture for a while. Case in point, a house we looked at in Wells Landing Chilliwack was 87K....in 1987....it was 250K in 1987....certainly like to do that one again.
When we did buy in 1995, in Ontario...we bought for 125K...put 20K into the place and sold for 107K in 1998.
Bought again in NB same year....mortgage free summer 2008...still have that house. Our real estate adventures came out in the wash with a final move pending.
So 25 years on, and now Ottawa based (with the better 1/2 in NB); I find myself penning this nearly 10km's away (9672.16 km apparently) from the nations capital. So somethings have gone full circle....well sort of.
Canada has been good for us, no doubt about it......but Blimey it seems to have gone by fast.....perhaps not so much at the moment...with a local time of 0150hrs...time for some shut-eye.

Can you confirm those house figures though, they seem to be a bit, ummm, wrong, lol.

The other was 10,000 km away not 10...I was a tad tired....that's my excuse...
Even the 10,000 is wrong now....as I am fortunately on my way back...If only for 5 days....

15 or so months ago...it was anybody's guess on the first 25
....I picked up something they call 'Meningoencephalitis'.....or MEV in the movie 'Contaigon'That was fun....And has added a few aspects that I could live without for this 25.
