I arrived at YVR on Canada Day 2007 with nothing more than a suitcase. I left the UK two weeks ahead of my family to find a house and a job in Kamloops.
Looking back at what a risk this was gives me the shivers, it could have easily ended in financial disaster. Our house in the UK sold, I had quit my job, we had a container load of belongings enroute to Kamloops with no job or accommodation lined up. Thankfully it all worked out in the end, house and job secured within a month so this is my 10 year 'Canada' anniversary in the same house and the same job. No regrets whatsoever, absolutely love it here. My children are no longer children, Daughter is now 14, and my 21 year old Son moved to Vancouver to work for a visual effects company. I'm slightly biased but I think that they both turned out OK. The disruption of moving country has not affected them, everyone is healthy so that is the main thing. Christmas is the only time I regret being an expatriate, you can't beat having a house full of family members on Christmas day, thankfully we (parents & Sister) take turns on seeing each other so that helps. Not much more to add really, time just flies by. Winter>Spring>Summer>Fall before you know it's Christmas again then repeat. http://www.tattoo.com/sites/default/...ary-tattoo.jpg |

I know what you mean about Christmas, but i think the rest of the year makes up for it, and besides you are your own family unit anyway. Congratulations on your 10 year milestone. |

What do you mean? There was a guy in the park on Canada Day giving out free tattoo's so my Wife got one to celebrate the 10 years.
