1 year - away

1 year - away
It's been just over a year since we upped sticks and moved out of Canada... and we are missing it!
After over 6 years there, and a whisker away from having enough PR time to go for citizenship, we'd put down some hefty roots, and are missing the friends we made over there.... FaceTime and Skype just don't compensate!
Sort of glad we missed the last winter... sounded pretty bad. But we do miss the snow, the sunny, dry cold days, the autumn, the wildlife, the forests (even though QC fence most of them off :thumb down: ), and, funnily enough, the people!
Watching "Just For Laughs" makes us "homesick"!!
Those of you still there who are growing weary of the place... you'll probably miss it if you leave!

I can fully apreciate this, as I've often lived in a few odd places that I have since missed....but what made you move to Malaysia? Do you plan to stay long? Could you just not hack Canada for a bit longer...I do not mean to be intrusive, but I am sure there are many on here who might wonder the same

We have one more year to make our minds up, then PR is in danger of slipping!

No Millie, didn't leave because we wanted to.... left for the same reason we arrived in Canada.... job transfer! We could have delayed the move, company were happy to do so, but we had to coincide with the start of the school term, so couldn't really stay the extra 2 months or so.

I could say....do what is best for you....I have been saying a version of the same theme to my husband for years now you will do what you feel is ultimately the best at the time - and my very best of luck and best wishes go with the decision
Canada is still waiting here, hot and cold...whenever you decide to return!

Thanks for the advice Millie! We're trying to do what's best for the kids (we're happy (ish!) anywhere. Sometimes though you look back and wonder why you did what you did!
