Advertising on post boxes
Hi does anyone know if you are allowed to put up flyers ect on letter boxes? I know the postie takes them off but is it illegal or could you be fined for doing it?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Jo xx

I'm not sure but I'd imagine it's actually illegal. In Canada I don't believe you're allowed to mess with a post box in any way, and only the postie and the owner are allowed to touch it.

Are you thinking of the ones that you walk to with your key? I've seen loads of ads on them - for days and days. Don't know if it breaks rules though.
Loads of people put ads on lamposts too.

Our post box has loads of 'flyers' on it, you know the ones with the tear off numbers on it. I wouldn't worry about it, all they can do is throw them away.

I was told by a resident of our local town that it is illegal to advertise on post boxes if noticeboards were already provided in the town. I don't know how true this is though - I guess your local town offices can advise.
We have no noticeboards around here (the sticks) so sticking notices on post boxes seems quite acceptable (and we have done it - no complaints yet ).
