I was recently made aware of this, by a number of Canadians at work, who use them when they travel to 'other' parts. I was quite impressed and it seemed like a much nicer choice, both economically and socially for a stay away from home. Try VRBO on google...lots of options. Best of luck!

My folks have used it, with great success, in Arizona, California and I think Oregon. There are similar sites for places to stay in Spain/Portugal/France/Italy and even the sunny UK

I used it last year to book a place in Washington State for a few days. It was a great house and price was very reasonable too.

We are using it for our place on Van Island this summer - and used it before for another home in the Okanagan, plus the place in Florida. All good so far. Good accommodation - wide variety of price points to choose.

Almost Canadian

We use it whenever we travel in North America. We only use hotels if we are location hopping during a trip.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I'd never heard of it before - I sometimes think I spend my life in a daze- but it seems a great idea. Normally I find if you look for 'holiday rental' accommodation, it is so big, but these have some lovely little places that are perfect for a small family.

We've booked a gorgeous apartment through VRBO for the month after we land in Toronto at the beginning of September. Was recommended to us by our Canadian friends who have used it loads. :-)

We've used it loads of times with varying degrees of success - mostly positive, however we were warned to be extra careful with Florida properties as many weren't as described (and in some cases didn't exist). The property we rented there was fine although the owners were seriously weird - insisted on visiting to give an "intro" to property the day after we arrived, settled in and made themselves coffee, and invited us to their friend's party . It took forever to get them to leave.
We also encountered an owner who tried to bill us after giving a totally extortionate quote for a shack in New York state, however it looks like she's been removed.
Homeaway is a sister site - the info seems to be shared but lots of owners advertise on both, occasionally with varying prices!
