Yeah we've been offered $1.83 and like you say it's good have you done a forward contract? We spoke to someone there and it sounded good, but my sis in law but doubts in my mind and said about transferring from our bank when we open one in Canada but I've read that costs ££££.

Wire transfers do cost money as I said. Most banks here seem to charge in one way or the other. Our UK premier HSBC account would charge for a wire transfer too so...

We have used both Moneycorp and Halo but have tended to use Halo more recently (last couple of years) as when we've checked with both, their rate has been slightly better for us. Both companies have been fine to deal with and we haven't experienced problems with either.

Hi there,
I have used Moneycorp, just not for canada. When I returned from Ireland to the UK I transferred my euro to sterling using them. The difference between using them and using a bank amounted to five figures, although the amount transferred was in the hundreds of thousands.
Had no problems, got a great rate, they were easy to deal with and fast too.
Hope that helps.

I'll give a +1 for Excel Currencies, they were really helpful when I was transferring GBP to CAD
