Smile Thinking of doing a working holiday.

Hello. I'm sean and 22 living in the uk I'm about to finish my 4 year electrical apprenticeship.
I'm thinking of doing a working holiday in cannada.
To give me a bit more experience of working on site as a qualified electrician, I thinking of applying for a visa next year or the year after.

I know there is only a limited number of visas given out every year, but I'm just wondering if i did go over to Canada, would I be able to work as an electrician or an electrical mate. As I won't have my red steal certificate or have a full understanding of electrical work in Canada.
As I would prefer a job in my field, as if I did enjoy canada and working over there, I may consider extending my stay or moving.

I'm also not to sure of where the best areas of Canada to work in are, I know a lot of people talk about BC being a nice place to live.
But work wise I'm not to sure, I'm not to bothered about winter as I know canada has some very cold parts.
I don't really wanna end up in a winter wonderland ha

Any help I do really appreciate

Would hate to get out there not knowing something, which could effect the possabilty of staying IF I enjoyed it out there.

You cannot work unsupervised in any province without a provincially issued qualification. You could work under a qualified electrician in Canada if you can find one willing to hire you.

Agreed. At 22 your young enough to take a risk.

If you don't get the work you want you still have the experience of living/travelling/working in another country.

Depending on who you are and what you want in life, its never really too late to take a risk.

I would wait a year, if you want to stay, you will want to have your qualifications recognised which means you will want to challenge the red seal exam and you usually need around 9000 hours of work which is normally 5 years.

Someone else might be able to give some better info I looked into it many years ago but I was still getting job offers just through experience so didn't bother in the end, but my job doesn't require qualifications to work whereas I presume an electrician will.

Rob Ford doesn't live in Toronto. That's the key point about him.
