If you are resident in the UK for tax purposes, you register as self-employed and invoice them. If you are not sure what your tax status is in Canada, you file NR73 with the CRA and ask them.

Thanks for that ... things have changed a bit ... now they want me to be a proper employee even though I will fly back to UK every 4 weeks or so so that I can have all health,dental,life ins benefits .. but I will be UK resident and now presumably they will be taxing me at source in Canada as if I was living there, does this give me headaches tax wise ... now thinking it may not be worth it and I should stay on gardening leave ... any advice would be greatly appreciated ... many thanks

It does sound a bit complicated. Probably best to get in touch with JonBoyE. I see he hasn't commented in this thread, maybe drop him a PM? He's always been very helpful to me
