Schools for high intellectual capacity / autism/ ADHD
Does anyone know anything about schools for kids with high intellectual capacity and autism/ ADHD (with no significant Behavioural issues), age range 7-13? Looking at Ottawa and GTA.

I moved your post to a thread of it's own as you are more likely to get responses that are significant to your question, rather than posts to the original thread.
Glad you found us and I'm sure that someone will be along to offer advice (it might even be on topic, lol) soon.
Are you hoping to move to either the GTA or Ottawa soon?

Mainstream Schools. Sometimes they can get a TA if necessary, but not easy now. Once adults, they are on their own or require family support.

Suggest you search dbd33's posts on the subject of care for people with autism, particularly when they age out of the education system. In short: None unless you have private resources.

Going through this same issue.
Recently moved from UK. DS was in mainstream school in UK with support. Private schools in ottawa are not able to cope with minor infractions of behaviour i.e. - being noisy or laughing out loudly. Found out the difficult way. Now scrambling to get a place in a school suitable for him in ottawa. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

I am in N.S granted, however there are a number of private schools here that specialize in Autism Spectrum disorders. I am sure if they exist in N.S they must exist in other Provinces Ontario included.
My 9 yr old DD is in mainstream school with full EA support, Speech Therapist weekly and Physiotherapist. Prior to school she received early intervention therapy.
We have been very fortunate with the level of support she has received, however fully echo others comments, any support received as a minor pretty much goes once they hit adulthood, this will be our challenge.

Such funding wasn't willingly offered, of course, but it's available if one is prepared to scream, shame, and litigate.
