Relocating to Barrie Area
Good Morning,
It looks pretty nailed on that we will be moving to the Barrie area as I am currently in the final stages of choosing between two companies having gone through the final interview stages and received offers.
Perhaps some of the BEP's here could advise on
1. An Area of Barrie which you would settle in (or surrounding locations). We are a family of 5 which includes 3 kids (12,10,8) and a dog.
2. What is the best way for my Wife to go about getting a job in the area. Does she target the area she wants to work in and visit locations with her Resume and a reference letter or actually hook up with an employment agency? Before we decided to raise a family she was the manager in an oral surgery practice. She would enjoy an environment on a part time basis similar to this.
3. Why does the majority of rental properties in Barrie rent out their basements separately??? Obviously its to make maximum return on the investment in a rental property however its just weird and a concept that we would find uncomfortable. When I was a student it was the norm but to divide a property up
4. How accurate is the Ontario Schools Ranking system online? We have been looking at the scores on the website for the schools around Barrie and obviously want to move to the one that challenges our kids the most academically.
5. Has anybody any good contacts for realtor in the area who specializes in rentals?
6. Lastly but probably most important BEST soccer clubs in the area for my son U10's with a full programme of both outdoor and indoor competitive in the winter.
Thanks
Farmboy.

Hi Farmboy,
Looks like we will be neighbours soon. Planning to travel out to Toronto in May 2018 now that my PR card has arrived. We will initially rent near Toronto, but look to buy in Barrie in the near future. I can ping you a few real estate contacts that cover Barrie Area. You can rent a whole 4 bedroom house for $1800-$2200 per month. Have a look on realtor.ca or zolo.ca.
The dog park is on the south side of Barrie, but there are many trails close by. We will bringing our 3 dogs. Just got to arrange all the practicalities.....

Beer creek , Barrie SW, looks like an improving school in Barrie for English native speakers.
You will need to live in the following catchment. http://bss.scdsb.on.ca/Documents/Bea...e-Area-Map.pdf
Other option is East view secondary in the NE Barrie area. http://eas.scdsb.on.ca/about-us

Re: Relocating to Barrie Area
Anyone on BE who can recommend an area to live in Barrie that would be suitable for a couple in their mid 50s with dogs? We don't want to live on a new McMansion estate with loads of young families. We are looking for somewhere near parks and/or nature trails. We are aware of the off leash dog park in SE Barrie.
Areas
Painswick SE Barrie
Holly SW Barrie
Letita Heights NW Barrie
Cuddles N Barrie
Eastview Park/Maitland Park, NE Barrie
