If he is training in the UK, I doubt he can sit the Inter-provincial Exam in Canada at the conclusion of his training. To sit the exam an applicant has to go thought the prescribed number of hours work experience with a Canadian employer. The alternative is for a foreign tradesman to challenge the exam, they need to have and prove 9000 hours work experience. This equates to around 5 years full time employment.

Have you checked eligibility with the college of trades?
