dh needs his licence asap when we get to BC, the webby says "usually you can get your licence straight away" does this mean that you can walk in and get your card straight away? or do you have to wait for it to be posted.

You get a temporary paper licence straight away and then they send your card within a couple of weeks.

No, the paper license doesn't, he will have to wait for the permanent one.

He may be able to use a combination of his passport as photo ID with his paper license. It is worth checking.

He will still have to answer some questions on the Canadian Highway Code and pass an eye test. They take your 'photo there and then for the BC Licence.

highway code is no problem, we have a copy of the book and have both studied it and taken the online practice test. he needs certain bits of ID for the ITA test, includes BC photo driving licence, not passports etc, unless its a canadian one. he is a crane driver and cant drive cranes till he gets that ticket, we are hoping to get out there and get him out working within weeks, not months. he has a job lined up. just trying to work out the quickest way to get the relevant documents sorted out.
