Re: Owen Sound
It's a funny old town. It's a tourist trap and that is pretty much the only industry here - hospitality and retail, neither of which pay very well. It is also a magnet for people retiring from the city or buying holiday homes, so houses are expensive but the people that actually work in Collingwood can't really afford them!

After a year and a half of driving to downtown Toronto from just north of Shelburne I found the drive had lost whatever charm it originally had. I can't imagine it's even possible to drive from Collingwood daily unless "Toronto" is taken to include the far reaches of suburbia.

But that's still 90 minutes from Toronto if you're aiming to arrive at 9am.
I found that I could get to the office, for 7, in an hour and 15 minutes but that no matter when I left, it was three hours to get home, say three and a half to Collingwood. That was too much for me though I know lots of people do it.

Well my neighbour travels from Alliston to downtown Toronto every day. She has to leave home at 6:15am to get to work on time and gets home around 6:30pm... Not much fun!!
