Don't know where you rent trucks, we pay $89 a day plus 15c a km for a 5 tonne.

My mate lived in Lethbridge and use to call all the hire companies in YYC before flying and ask if they had any cars they wanted taken back to Lethbridge.
He got good deals about 4 times I think out of 9/10 times trying and they saved on wages.

Was using U-Haul's website.

They have far cheaper rates for local though. They are the only company I know of offering one way rentals so I used them to quote Vancouver to Oshawa, ON.

I don't rent trucks often, last time I had enough to need a truck was 2006, Uhaul again was about 1,200 all in one way from Edmonton to Chilliwack.

Even a fairly close move from Squamish to Campbell River, the truck and insurance before gas and ferry fees comes to 400 dollars.

Moving just isn't cheap and is a huge reason why low income folks get stuck in high cost regions, moving isn't an option, and they are not typically in jobs with mobility so takes a lot of money to move.

I don't need, was just curious what they would charge on the same route.
