Default nainamo

Woo hoo. Just got job offer for nanaimo. Looking to be out there by mid July. We are relocating from ns. Seems hard to get short term rentals. We also have a dog. Anyone in nanaimo have any information on rentals would greatly appreciate it. So excited I'm dizzy☺

Congrats!!!

Try using padmapper.com there's a fair few on there, not sure what you are looking for though. How short a short-stay do you need? How many bedrooms etc?

Did find a few elsewhere, but they're not cheap!

I also can't help, but just thought I'd say congrats. Nanaimo is gorgeous, I'm jealous.

We had a nice meal there yesterday at the harbourside bistro place. The bit where the float plane come and go is nice - and the "old town", but I'm not sure i'd describe the rest of it as gorgeous. Shopping is good though.

A bit sprawly for me. What are you going to do there?

Certainly very mild there. We're heading for the water park at Ladysmith this afternoon which is south of Nanaimo. Going to be 24c with Sun.

I agree .......... some nice spots, including the old town area, some good restaurants, a hotel with a great Whisky Bar, a pretty good symphony orchestra, and a flourishing small semi-pro theatre.

BUT it reminds me so much of any US town where the car is king ........... sprawling areas of car dealerships, malls, small malls. You end up driving miles to get items from this kitchen dealership to that lumber store to that furniture store etc.

We spend a lot of time in Nanaimo as several of our best friends live there, and we always have fun, but I wouldn't call all of it "beautiful"! Just another drive along any highway through any small town in the US with single or 2 storey buildings on each side stretching for miles!

Lots of outdoor things to do in surrounding areas, which are beautiful!

Just expect to either walk or drive everywhere!

We're also moving to Nanaimo soon, June for us. I've spend the last few days booking us some short term rentals and have found enough to see us through to August. If you're looking for furnished places airbnb has been pretty good. There's lots on vrbo/homeaway too but they tend to be a bit more expensive. As previously suggested padmapper has been pretty useful and I've found quite a few places on Craigslist or usednanaimo.com. Quite a few seem quite open to pets for the short term rentals. Seems like it'll be a bit harder for longer term with our three cats but we'll figure that out when we need to Good luck finding something!

Really? I thought Nanaimo was a dump and a boring one at that, in fact that whole eastern coast from Nanaimo up to Port Hardy was just one pikey encampment after another.
