Moving to Mississauga

Re: Moving to Mississauga
Crucial point- many (myself included) despise the place but many other sing it's praises. But there's not really and bad areas in the GTA if you're coming from Britain.
Sounds like the firm has found the condo for you so you'll be central around Square 1. There are a lot worse places to be in the world.
Job wise, check your visa situation. When you say energy are you talking utilities or oil& gas?

Ok my gut feeling is the utilities here are going to be too slow moving to bother with. They'll get you a job offer by the time you're back in blighty.
There's a growing interest in energy efficiency here and its an open secret that Canada is decades behind Europe. Your accent might end up being your strongest weapon in sales/ support role. I'm not familiar with any companies specifically in that field but they are out there.
Might also be worth reaching out through any institutes/ learned bodies you're a part of- ASHRAE etc- to help you network before you land.

It's a lower-density suburb unlike anything you will find in the UK. You will likely need to drive a lot.
Is that something that might appeal to you or would it be too different from home?
You need to understand how different it is from the UK.

Having driven in various parts of Africa especially Nigeria you'll excuse me for saying the Canada= UK when you round up.

I think you have to acknowledge here that the comparisons between the UK and Canada, or Dibley Village and Mississauaga, occupy a rather small part of the Driving Experience continuum.

similar to comparing the A4 to the Gardiner expressway or the DVP,
or with the M4 to the 401 comparison
