Re: Mechanic looking for LMIA
I had to Google LMIA to see what it was.
A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that an employer in Canada may need to get before hiring a foreign worker. A positive LMIA will show that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job. It will also show that no Canadian worker is available to do the job.
Is a service tech also known as a car mechanic? I'm not sure, but I can't imagine a company having to recruit a car mechanic from Australia due to shortages in Canada.

As per your last thread, you're very unlikely to find a company with a LMIA already in place, pre-approval LMIA's are very rare and only for companies with a high demand for foreign workers with very specialist skills. Most are simply applied for for an individual worker, and beware of the companies advertising they have pre-approved LMIA's on Craigslist etc, more are just scammers
What have you been doing since you first starting asking a few years ago, have you been out to job hunt in person as suggested? How did that go?
Do you have any other route to a visa or does it have to be a LMIA/TWP? Do you have a spouse and if so, what do they do? How old are you?

I have found myself an old school independent guy who is 100% trustworthy. He is great with nuts and bolts, but when it comes to the computer brain (ECU I believe he called it) unless you have all the gear, diagnosing issues become harder and harder.

wow good for him. You are 100% right, a good mechanic is hard to find. I have learnt my lesson over the years and stay away from main dealer service techs for non warranty work.
