Looking for QROPS personal finance expert
Hello,
I am a Canadian Citizen. For 2 years I lived in the UK and contributed to a private pension plan. From what I have read, I can transfer that money back to Canada into a pension plan here in Canada.
I'm having a very hard time finding an individual at a bank or financial institution here in Ontario. I have talked to Scotiabank and RBC and there seems to be no one in Ottawa, Ontario that has ever done this type of transfer before. Scotiabank was trying to work with me, but all communications had to go through some headquarters in Toronto and the whole process did not make me feel comfortable because the guy I was working with in Ottawa had no clue what he was doing.
Does anyone know of a financial planner who has experience with QROPS? I live in Ottawa, but anyone in Ontario would be good enough at this point.
Thanks!

Thanks Danny B,
What were Mark's fees? How long did the process take after you signed the initial documents?
I'm a bit nervous about going through some guy with a website. How do I know I can trust this person?
Thanks!

I also transferred mine through Mark Walker last year.
He didn't charge me any fees since he gets paid by the company in Canada that he transfers the QROPS into.

Thanks, I just contacted Mark Walker and he is not licensed to serve me in Ontario. Anyone know any other people in Ontario that could help me?

Thank you for your recommendations.
As pointed out I am licensed to help clients in both BC & Alberta.
The east coast is an area I will be looking to expand into however currently I cannot help clients other than in BC and Alberta.
Thanks.

OMG following this. I have been trying to transfer my UK private pension here since last September and the amazing woman at Scotiabank said she has never known such loopholes in 40 years. Basically since our pension is more than the 30k cut off we must get an authorized FCA registered to UK but residing out of Canada !! So our money and forms is all good to go apart from this ! any help would be very appreciated !

Re: Looking for QROPS personal finance expert
Thanks XEXERS I have just emailed them . The problem I have the guy Mark who is highly recommended on here has told me my financial advisor must be UK based yet my UK pension people are telling me must be based in Canada (odd combination but what do I know... ) I think I need to try find the section on the UK Govt website that states this as I have a feeling I am being led a merry dance because they don't want to transfer the pension. Doing my head in.

I see one of these people driving around in a sign written car:
http://www.uk2canadapensiontransfers...-pensions/home
it's not a very special car, I can't remember the type, but I suppose blandness is an asset in financial matters. The website indicates that they know about this 30k business.
