If a medical was taken in July this year in the UK and we have not heard anything yet, if there were problems with the medical, would we have been refused by now?

If there would be a problem with medicals then you would most likely receive request
for additional test - in such case the request may come anywhere between 3 and 7+
months from initial medicals. If you know that your health is perfect and don't
expect any additional requests then the hold-up is caused by background/security
check still pending.

I am not sure how and who handles the medical result in UK, but I am applying through
Buffalo and I did get an additional medical request in a month from my initial
medical exam.
I was reading someone's "GOT IT" and I believe the person was from Singapore.
Anyway, he/she also got an additional medical request in a month from an initial
medical exam.
So if may be a background/security check that is holding up like Andrew mentioned.
