You scored 76 points under new selection grid - your score is 4 points short of 80
points pass mark.

70 points is the pass mark under the old law. As the new law is not yet implemented
officer could not tell you otherwise. New selection criteria have the pass mark of 80
points. Check the transition rules here:

thanks Mr.Andrew for your response.

If I am getting 76 points, is it wise enough to apply ? like the earlier point system, will there be some points awarded by the officer ( earlier they were awarding upto 10 points)so that I can come near 80 ?

No, there will be no additional points awarded like in the old system, although the
discretionary power of processing officers is in the new law as well. They will have
the discretion to approve (with the consent of supervisor) cases that don't have
enough points if in their opinion applicant has good chances for successful
establishment in Canada or to reject those with 80 or more points if in their opinion
applicant has a rather slim chance for success. Depending from your overall
qualifications and skills there may be a good chance even with 70 points. As I am
already repeating here every day since the publication of Regulations - perfect
preparation of application package and strong presentation will be the key.
