Well, if what I saw on my scoping visit to BC in August was anything to go by, I've decided to not bother with the cable TV package and just get the 50Mb internet connection instead! With that bandwidth, I can pretty much whatever I want!

To be honest, I don't really watch TV in the UK but I do download quite a lot of the stuff I like; CSI, Modern Family, Fringe etc so a decent 'net connection will be more use and I won't have to endure 20mins of adverts every hour.

They sold them at Costco about a year ago or so.....they were only at my local Costco for a few weeks....not sure if they sold well or would work here or not.

I agree that the PVR is one of the greatest inventions to skip over adverts and record shows when you're not around.

You are welcome, it chucks a load of banner ads at me which get on my wick, apart from that it is great.

I tried expat shield for a week or 2 but have now reverted back to My private network.
2 reasons: One, the ads were a pain, and two, I couldn't purchase downloads of MP 3's from Amazon UK. When i signed back up to MY VPN, the Amazon site let me purchase the MP3 downloads ( it was a greatest hits xmas album that i only found on Amazon UK).
Just thought I would let you know about my experience.
PS, I did get to watch the I player on bbc and ITV with no problems using expat shield though.......
