Hi everyone!

We have our visa now after 4 long years and we've handed in our notice! Woohoo!

Quick question for you guys, is it worth getting my doctor, dentist and optician records? Should I inform them I am leaving the country too?

Also if anyone knows any thorough checklists on what to do before emigrating to Canada, please point me in the right direction!

We didn't bring any of our health records and didn't find it a problem - mind you we're both pretty fit. Get any dental work done before you come, as it's expensive over here! Though the quality of treatment also seems to be far better than the NHS offered.

You do not have to bring any records over unless you have kids where you will need vaccination records. I brought kids vaccination records etc because I had those anyway. I remember back in 2005 my doctors wanted over a hundred pounds to copy me and my husbands records. I did not bother. However we had nothing of any note at that time. Just make sure you have your own personal record of any illnesses and year it occurred as you will be filling in forms asking for that kind of information. When I moved from the states in 2013 I had some notes copied which have been useful for working out dates. I had copies of latest optician prescriptions. I brought nothing from dentist but it never mattered. Good luck with everything. I think you will be surprised how little you actually need to bring to set up life in a new country.
