Transferring Canada Licence back to your previous UK one?
Anyone know the quickest way to do it? Seems a labyrinth on DVLA website.
You can just swap Canada license back to UK (your old driving license number)without any hassle right?
Cheers,
B

Yes. Pick up Form D1 from the Post Office, complete it for an exchange of your Canadian licence, but include your GB driving licence number in the relevant box. You'll then be sent a new GB photocard licence by post and your Canadian licence will be cancelled.

It would appear from the DVLA website that you may be able to drive for up to 12 months on your "Canadian" license.
Might be as well to double check though

Personally I would do so. It's free so it's worth it alone from an insurance premium point of view. It's also very useful as a proof of ID/address.

thanks! Quick question. Do they send your Canadian Driving license back to Ontario after processing? and if you happened to have 2 Canadian license (due to address change) surely you can keep one right? and its still active?

In theory it's returned. It may be securely destroyed in Swansea. Either way it's cancelled. I don't know but I would suggest you shouldn't be holding two valid Canadian licences so I can't answer that.

"A driver may not apply for, secure or retain in his or her possession more than one driver's licence," - Section 35.1e of Ontario's Highway Traffic Act.

The physical licence may or may not be sent back. The fact that it's been exchanged and cancelled certainly will be.
How do you 'happen' to have two licences? Certainly only one will ever be valid, and most times there are restrictions to make sure nobody 'happens' to try that (like, physically handing over a licence when changing jurisdiction, or sending stickers for address changes). As Christmas has quoted, holding two is illegal.

Unnecessarily lying to government not being the best thing to do, especially when following the law is simple and free (well. OK. a 50p stamp).

"Lost" doesn't mean "voluntarily surrendered it in exchange for something of equal value which I currently possess and am pretending I don't".

What you consider a 'little victory against the system', hopefully the police consider 'driving on an invalid licence'. By any standard, it's reprehensible. Laws against multiple licences are there for peoples safety - so a person who gets one suspended, or racks up points, isn't driving around on the other. Your 'little victory' is an attack on everyone else here.
