None of the supermarkets we use (COOP, Walmart & Superstore) seem to have poppadoms any more? Any recent sightings?

I think what I miss the most is Tunnock Tea Cakes and Caramel Wafers. Am on the look out in the GTA for them, but haven't seen any. Hopefully one day

I had a Caramel Wafer last night!

They are both available in specialist British stores. They are also both available at Walmart, but not all Walmarts carry British foods (of the ones I can think of in Brampton only one carries British food). And if you happen to be looking for Snowballs check the Italian part of the international section as that is where they are in the Walmart at which I get British food

Very nice. I'll have to call in at the Sobeys next time I'm passing.

Funnily enough, I don't remember seeing any pasta related stuff in that section. There might have been, but I didn't notice. There were Italian cookies, etc. though.

And today they had Bourbon Creams and Custard Creams

Or Mustard Creams as the visually impaired cashier read.

OH bought a new bottle of Heinz Salad English Dressing from our Safeway at the weekend (of course, that is now owned by Sobeys)

It has new labels, same shape of bottle ...... and says New Look & Taste

Prepared in the Netherlands for Heinz Canada

Fewer ingredients in the listing, BUT the first one is Vinegar

White Vinegar is 4th item listed on the bottle we had in the fridge.

OH tried it last night .......

he said it tasted more vinegary than before

Nelju is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: British treats - Sobeys

Sobeys hired a U.K. celebrity chef. That's probably the reason for having more british threats at that food retailer.

Sobeys partners with Jamie Oliver | Canadian Grocer

we've always been able to buy certain British sauces and dressings from the Safeways in Vancouver ...... they're on the regular shelves. Other foods haven't bothered us much

The only special aisle we now have at our local one is the Asian Foods Aisle.

I would have thought that the special aisle would consist of North American foods
