There is no such thing as a Canadian Driver's License.
But don't get your hopes up! Driving is administered by each of the provinces and
territories ... and they all have license rules ... and they're all a little
different. So, bottom line, it depends on where you go as to what you have to do to
change your license.
In Ontario, as a Brit, you can get a full G (General for cars and small trucks), by
passing a written exam, eye exam and road test and providing you have 2 years
experience. Without the experience, you will enter the graduated licensing scheme.
Search the web for the Ministry of Transport for the province you intend to go to.

Driving Lic.
Hi,
We've been in Victoria for the last three months and you have a grace period to use your UK lic. The you have to pass the BC test, i.e. eye exam, written test ( computer based) and driving test. You don't however have to go through the parole type period which seems to last for ages.
To be honst though the driving in Victoria where I live is really slow and the drivers are very considerate - compared to M4/M5/M25 UK driving that is. On the mainland - can only comment on Vancouver - the driving is much more hectic.
Cheers - Steve
