Probably Alberta and Saskatchewan have the highest demand for trades at the moment.

Are you aware that an Electrician is a Regulated Trade in Canada? I presume you already know that anyway...

Adds a few extra hurdles to jump.

I'm not an expert, but one will probably be along soon.

What 'sort' of electrical work does your husband do?

Domestic? Industrial? HV? Transmission?

No I wasn't aware, from what I understand its a skill trade the country requires, at the moment he is domestic but is wanting to do a different area, possibly industrial, what sort of hurdles would he face?

Do a search on Red Seal.

Proving the required experience to challenge the inter-provincial exam and then passing it.

Challenging Exams | Industry Training Authority

Each province administers its own. He could not work without supervision until he has passed the inter-provincial exam (often referred to, albeit wrongly as the Red Seal exam).

ok thanks for that information I will read up on it, it also seems most expats go to Alberta (Calgary) so must be the place to be in terms of employment

I merely suggested "Red Seal" as a search term. I've just done it myself and the very first hit is your link.

Why make things complicated?

Did not read your post. However, why is being correct complicating things? The is no Red Seal or national exam, it is inter-provincial with Red Seal endorsement for some trades and just provincial for trades that are not Red Seal endorsed or for training authorities that don't participate in Red Seal.
