I don't see what's to discuss really.

In my personal experience I've had 5 or 6 years of free access to iPlayer or alts via two different add-ons and one website.

The two earlier options (to me) are still active but now charging. I haven't signed up because the current one is free and works well, plus there are numerous alternatives which, depending on the popularity of the program, give access to a stream or download a matter of minutes after the broadcast.

That it's been this way for several years is all one needs to know about whether they've been successful in restricting it.

Of course it doesn't mean they won't one day be successful, until the next way to get around it pops up.

It's about time they all recognised the world has changed and take advantage of it like the music biz did when they eventually realised they were fighting a similar losing battle.

I pay an annual fee to my security provider, their primary interest is tunneling for commercial concerns, but my subs pay for my maintenance/helpdesk which are both excellent and have circumvented everything tried against them in next to no time.

Unotelly down for me with iPlayer. Very frustrating. It was working last week but tried yesterday and today and it recognizes as non-UK.

I'm also on Unotelly - contacted them about BBC I player about 10 days ago - they fixed it and then it went down again - should be back again soon - but I'm sure it will be an ongoing issue - I suppose it makes sense for the BBC to fight the VPN's as we are not licence payers

We won't be paying to renew Unotelly again at this point, simply too unreliable. I could deal with it not doing US Netflix, but losing the ability to reliably access BBC is a dealbreaker.

For now we are using the Beebs extension on Chrome after reading about it on here... will just ride this one out as long as it lasts and go from there. Thanks for the tip!

It may have been me on the Beebs extension. Now everytime I go to Iplayer on Chrome it makes me sign in again and to confirm (i.e tell porkies) that I have a BBC licence etc.

Can you stream it to your TV (via chromecast?) or do you watch on the computer.

I've had a new(different) VPN for two months now and, so far, it's working perfectly. It cost $2 weekly, the price of a coffee, and gives me exactly what I want/need. I have to sign-in and tell a porky about the license thingy but those are very minor inconveniences. It works well on both my laptop and iPad and can be cast to TV screen via Chromecast or Apple TV. It has alleviated my frustration level no end and, as such, a great weekly investment.

Wait till the BBC start actually giving Id codes with tv licenses, then disabling codes seen to be used abroad, it's coming.

Same here regarding unotelly. It's been weeks and they've still not fixed. Defo going elsewhere just a shame I've got 6 months left with them. Weird thing is that you can stream live BBC but the saved programmes don't start.
