Baked Goods you miss from Home

Re: Baked Goods you miss from Home
Ick. That was obviously a while ago, as you know I run a food based business from home, and my pets aren't allowed anywhere near the kitchen when that's going on. Environmental health are very strict on that and could pop in to do a spot check at any time, so either things have changed since your friend did it, or she just ignored the rules!

Yes I heard about your cases....but...we have a 'Cultural Market' all day Saturday in the Multi Cultural Association, where you can get 'home' made food from every nationality in Fredericton just about...and they aren't from industrial kitchens. Likewise, the Northside Market has a big Sudanese, Thia and Ethiopian stall bit too, and I reckon they don't either.

The 10 Best Carpaccio in Toronto - TasteToronto
A search for rillettes+toronto fills as many pages as one for Trump+lies. This one seems authenticy, cause the site's in French:
CHABICHOU - PRODUITS FRANÇAIS | Bons plans Toronto !
There are not a lot of food items you can't get here (at a price "On regrette les tarifs quelque peu excessifs mais c'est un prix payer pour s'offrir un aller-retour express en France").

Re: Baked Goods you miss from Home
Does it qualify as "French"?
A real proper 'Montreal Bagel' from Montreal, no, not one of those Jewish or New York bagels, I mean the real fesh baked original on premises (not in a plastic bag) Montreal bagel.
The Bagel House at Bayview/Millwod in Toronto (other locations around also) doesn't just have it, close, but not close enough.
Maybe just my imagination
On French, if indeed it is French - I could take Escargot any time of day. Have eaten them out, also prepared/cooked them at home.

Before things went downhill for her, one of my children had a job as a bagel bagger at some famous deli in Montreal. It was a Jewish deli; bagels are, of course, as Jewish as gefilte fish.

Toronto is ugly, the traffic is horrific, but what it has is food. You can buy almost any food, raw or cooked, from a native of the country of the cuisine (there's no good Mexican food but Trump will likely help with that).

Re: Baked Goods you miss from Home
eye opener (kicking myself in the dumb ass) 'what was I saying', of course, its just a Jewish bagel made in Montreal
I need to revisit this to find a good Jewish bagel bakery (fresh out of the oven bagel), one bagel at a time

I would like a nice meat and potato pie - right now! (it's 6.00 am, I'm stuck in LA and I'd LOVE a meat and potato pie). When/if I ever get home, I wonder how hard they are to make? Anyone got a genuine, not too fancy, recipe?
