I would be very "unhappy" with the thought of Mr G driving the section between the city and Okotoks every day. Its not bad in the summer but you need to carefully consider the spring and winter - that goes all the way to May and starts again in September.

The best thing to do is to visit and try the road for yourself. Try to imagine it under ice or snow with a pickup racing towards you.

Good luck with the decision.

We'll be able to try it next month as we're going back soon Hopefully there should be snow etc. so that'll give us a taste of what the roads are like in the winter.

Less than 5 weeks now - we can't wait for our hols/vacation

Ahh Okotoks, that is where I did all of my dating with my wife. Her immediate family live there and that is where we will be moving to. Her mother died last year in a car accident on the road between High River and Okotoks and the whole local community were really good.

My brother in law works at lucianos on Mcloud(?) trail and he commuted to work every day, he has to go early so there has never been a problem with traffic. He was raised in Grand Prairie so he has no problems driving on ice etc.

Although I hear it was particlarly bad this year.

Look forward to living in Okotoks soo much, I like calgary but i also like to leave it sometimes. High River is just too slow for me

We found Cochrane to have far more character during our exploration trip last year. Liked it so much we're trying to get a house built in the new development at the lakes a few km to the north. Bragg Creek seemed very samll and siolated in comparison

So what is the commute between Cochrane and Calgary like in the worst weather?

My DH thought Bragg Creek was a bit isolated when he drove through it last year. Doesn't Cochrane have a hill? I recall some people being concerned about living there because the hill in/out of Cochrane can be a bit hazardous during the winter? DH took some photos for me and I thought Cochrane looked nice enough.

I've heard it can be interesting because of "the hill", but I'm lucky that it won't bother me because I'll be able to work from home when the weather is that bad.

probably the same as going down goats eye on one ski..............Most people who live in Cochrane seem to manage okay, and friends of ours who have lived there for 5 years, and commute, have commented that "You get used to it".

Sounds good, I'm swaying more towards living outside of Calgary itself, but still need to be able to get there.

Headhurts.
