Re: Any VPNs still work for BBC/ITV?
someone sent me this today & in view of the licensing charges for BBC IPlayer, has anyone using a VPN/DNS tried 'catch up TV'?
Don't know exactly how it works ..... anyone provide input on this?
TVCatchup - Watch Live TV And Never Miss A Show Again!
I caanot get this for the reason that I do not have a VPN or DNS

I watched BritTV via TV Catchup earlier today using "PureVPN". Good service, in my opinion.

So now it seems that the BBC are going to require a TV licence in order watch BBC i player from 1st September. Balls! Honestly if it is not one thing it is another! Hope someone is working on another loophole!

I was using unblockus and now using Overplay. With either today I can watch BBC ITV etc but now I can't even watch Canadian Netflix with it switched on as it says I'm using a blocker/proxy. Yesterday it was fine.

I use Private Internet Access and it works a treat. Have done so without hitch for the past 2 months
BBC, ITV, BT Sport, Sky Sports etc...all work fantastic. Delighted about this with the new football season nearly here!
Netflix doesn't but then they seem to be a lot tighter on VPN access these days...

There are tons of posts on these threads from people who have used different services without a hitch and then suddenly there's a hitch.
Just don't count your chickens. There are many alternatives available. Have something on standby

As BristolUK pointed out, there's no guarantee that a service working on one day will still be working the next. It's a cat and mouse game with VPNs and iPlayer, and it's the same with Netflix too.
To the best of my knowledge AirVPN is doing a pretty good job of keeping one step ahead of the blocks.
You'll find some others on this list - Buffered is another that seems very proactive in keeping itself somehow "unblocked."
Thankfully, most of these VPN services have free trials and guarantees so it's straightforward to chop and change when they get blocked...

Just started a trial with Total VPN. Watched some US Netflix last night whilst the OH was catching up with Corro in the other room. Price seems quite reasonable.

And now that iPlayer access will be restricted to licence fee payers, with further restrictions involving devices used the whole thing may be up in the air anyway.
Currently a VPN will gain you access to iPlayer because you can convince it you're in the UK.
But soon access will only come via a TV Licence related account.
There will be individual ways around this - piggybacking on the licence of a friend or relative for example. Which may be risky for the person back in the UK.
I daresay someone might be able to set up something where multiple subscribers can access iPlayer via an account or multiple accounts set up, but each account will cost that someone £145.50 and there will no doubt be different equipment/systems needed for that to happen.
If it can be done it would likely cost a fair bit more for the user than VPN fees - and would likely be that much "more illegal" to the point that it was more subject to legal actions by the BBC.

Unfortunately like you say, doesnt work with netflix and isnt possible on ATVs so you would only have the one source and airplay from it to TVs.
My interim solution has been to remove any DNS shenanagins from one TV and designate it as the Netflix TV along with daughters laptop.
The other ATV/TV combo has the DNS stuff on it and I watch BBC via the built in app on the ATV4 and airplay ITV/C4 when required from an ipod.

Perhaps I should have said 'providing' rather than because.
Currently a VPN will gain you access to iPlayerbecause providing you can convince it you're in the UK.
That's what very many here are still succeeding with
