Hello and welcome!

Have you already applied for SW visa?? If so, whereabouts in the process are you?

I don't know about Toronto neighbourhoods I'm afraid, but would really recommend you do a recce to check out various regions of Canada (try not to concentrate solely on Ontario as it's the toughest region to find jobs in apparently, so you might have more luck elsewhere). Once you have visited then you will get a proper feel for the place, and I'd also recommend you visit in winter to see if you can take the temperatures (which will be in minus figures!). If you don't want 'really zero temperatures' then forget Canada!!

I'd also check about jobs with immigration etc as you might find they won't employ you unless you are a Canadian citizen - I know that's the case with a lot of government jobs. So you might need to think about a different career until you've got your citizenship.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Welcome If you need to be near a border, I'm not sure Toronto or Ottawa will be any good? In Windsor 500k will buy you a mansion, it's a buyer's market here, you'll be sure to get a bargain. How about this one for 489k? There are lots of people of Caribbean/African descent, both newcomers and those who have been here since the underground railroad and of course Detroit is just across the river. But the pollution's bad, jobs are hard to find, and it's pretty humid in the Summer... it's not paradise

This question just goes to show that you need to do more information gathering. Check out the WIKI threads on the blue stip above it will lead you to information on Canada and its Provinces and Territories.

Southern provinces have border crossings sometimes more than one, also each province has well below zero temperatures in the winter with blizzards and ice rain and flies and mozzies and smog and rain.

Good luck with your journey

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Canada is a cold country and you would expect below zero temp. But its not BAD as what other people think. At least they have got 4 seasons.
Good luck !!

Come to Victoria, it doesn't go below freezing too often, the houses are a little expensive though.
