You've diverted into irrelevant side issues that exchange rates go up and down, the reported salary increase was in left wing papers etc. To prove the thread title I've been exceedingly tolerant and it really is time to put this to bed.

Incidentally the pound has fallen a cent or so against the Euro in the last few days as May prevaricates so Nige can probably look forward to an even bigger salary (fixed in euros, converted into weaker pounds) this month.

"MEP's salaries for the year are set at a point in time and when they were set the pound was much higher against the euro than it is now. Farage's salary doesn't move every day with E/R fluctuations!!!"

Which bit of that don't you understand??? Obviously his salary doesn't move every day - it's fixed for the year in euros, as I said an amount fixed to apply from 1/7/16 to 30/6/17 - fixed, locked in, just like everyone else's annual salary.

What happens, because he works in one country but lives in another with a different currency is when he draws this annual amount/12 every month it is converted into pounds at the E/R prevailing at the time of the conversion. You fail in not having the smallest bit of nous to work that out.

You must be still asleep after eating your humble pie and unable in a few days, despite posts elsewhere, to admit you were wrong?

The humble pie eaters are those who say one thing then change their story on reflection without an admission of a mistake.

But that's cool. We know the way you operate.

You are the one who doesn't understand the nature of a salary - it's fixed for a year. You repeatedly made a fool of yourself by saying point me to where the salaries are fixed. You then claimed the pound was stronger against the Euro since Brexit. You are the one who couldn't grasp that a fixed monthly amount of euros converted into more pounds since 23.6/16. You are the one who can't admit to being wrong.

Since when did I 'change my story' - I can't help it if you don't have the nous to work out why British MEP's are drawing bigger salaries post Brexit which you denied time and time again.

What you on about Beoz?

OzT is correct. Fixed Euro salary drawn in UK = varies monthly based on current Fx rate. Up and down, variation.

General tenor of OzT argument is surely correct. Where how did OzT change his tune : (and is their a nitpick involved?) wrong use of terminology?

Cheers

Not if you are paid in a currency that differs to the country you live in, amongst many other reasons why a salary can fluctuate - you wouldn't know any of those in your profession.

I think he has to be playing deliberately dumb and will soon resort to comments about lefties, tactics, getting information from left wing papers or whatever. He certainly won't admit to being wrong or not understanding. Possibly he got his knickers in a twist confusing Farage's fixed euro monthly salary of 8,484.05 Euros from 1/7/16 with his variable (since 23.6/16, lower) pound monthly salary drawn on conversion?

Point out the error of my ways please because you are digging yourself a bigger hole, specifically which of the above is wrong?

A teacher of Economics and Accounting doesn't know the meaning of fixed and variable costs? Farage's salary is 101,808 euros per annum for the year from 1/7/16. Agreed? (well you can't disagree).

You are contradicting yourself. You are trying to suggest Farage's support for Brexit was so his Euro salary is worth more when used as pounds yet you are saying his salary doesn't fluctuate on exchange rate fluctuations.

Which one do you want it to be?

Nitpicking. Salary doesn't fluctuate *at source* only when drawn (in UK).

It does fluctuate at destination so in that respect it is not fixed, in practise. Income 'receipts' fluctuate.

OzT has attempted to clarify.
Fixed salary, variable income.

I am not contradicting myself at all; his salary is paid in Euros and it doesn't change over the course of the year from 1/7/16.

I once said one of the ironies of Brexit is that Farage is getting a higher salary. You have never let go of that since; let it rest. HIS SALARY DOES NOT FLUCTUATE WITH EXCHANGE RATE FLUCTUATIONS (IT IS FIXED IN EUROS FOR A YEAR), HE GAINS BY DRAWING IT IN POUNDS. No contradiction. Would I say your salary is variable because it goes up and down in Japanese Yen or Canadian dollars? Move on.
