Well I'll be damned. Australia ranks higher than Saudi Arabia and Great Britain.

Never been there, but Uruguay seems like a surprising entry at #6 (more tolerant than the Netherlands?), considering no other country from that continent made the top 20.

It doesn't seem to be a particularly well-balanced table. Russia less tolerant than Ukraine, when there's a civil war going on in the latter? And than Turkey, ditto? I very much doubt it.

As for Uruguay, I have some friends who visit the place frequently, and have chosen it as their bolt-hole against a SHTF situation elsewhere in the hemisphere. They're both Americans, and they rate their home country pretty low - at least they did before Trump was elected. I can't speak for them now.

That actually sounds right. I couldn't think of a less tolerant place than Russia in fact.

As for civil war, the entire world knows what's going on with Russia's invasion of the Ukraine, aimed at destabilising the country. That's why we have sanctions against Russia, who we should treat in the same way that we deal with other extremists who disregard such notions as peace, human rights, etc.

As for Uruguay, I'm surprised that anyone would treat it as a SHTF destination. To me that sort of place has always been Australia. And even in Australia I would be looking to head east... but not as far as the Americas!

Is it surprising because you've never been there?

The USA and its NATO allies imposed sanctions against Russia because their corporate sponsors want a war, that's all. Gotta use up all them weapons so as we can manufacture some more and use them up and so ad infinitum.

Not at all. Reading comprehension isn't one of your strong points, is it?

In post #2 of this thread I wrote that it is surprising "considering no other country from that continent made the top 20."

Oh, right, and Russia never annexed Crimea by brute force or invaded eastern Ukraine? Do you even know how ridiculous that sounds, blaming the West and pretending that Russia hasn't done anything?

Does the only channel you pick up in the Caymans happen to be the Kremlin-associated Russia Today propaganda machine? That would explain the lack of basic knowledge about world events that you exemplify.

Of course we're tolerant, evidence of this is that we've put up with so many Poms for 229 years.

Hang on a minute, surely this can't be right? Aren't we constantly told by the left (be it their politicians, media, think tanks - even on here) that we are the most intolerant, racist and unwelcoming country?
