Yep. Its been kicking around the Qantas in flight entertainment for some time. Considering the other crap on Q entertainment I have watched it 3 times.

Another one of the greedy, wealthy business owners left wingers want you to hate.

Anyone who hoards billions in excess of what they need is by definition greedy. The philanthropists listed so-far haven't been referred to as greedy, quite the opposite.

Who hoards money? By definition hoarding money would mean millions or billions stuffed in a bank account with no plans for its use. Not a very clever use of millions or billions.

I love the fact that you think your replies are clever, but blindly loving the people pulling our strings is anything but.

I reckon each of us is gifted in some shape or form, and it's our responsibility to use that gift if not to directly advance mankind, then at least to not **** it over.

I love it that you think its fact rather than suspicion.

I agree ....... most if not all people are gifted in some shape or form which is why we should be very careful how we use the Robin Hood approach to UBI and Welfare. As a society we should be helping everyone reach those potentials, helping them to help themselves and make them feel good about their achievements. Increasing Welfare and UBI does the opposite to that.

They're coming, don't worry. People don't fill some of these positions because the pay is so low that it is uneconomic to work. In other cases, they are positions, but there are genuine skills gaps (eg. vets, plumbers, carpenters).

But they will happily fill other minimum wage jobs? Minimum wage being the key.

Pretty sure a Pizza cook can be automated now.

Some MW jobs have prospects, others don't. In any case, it's doubtful that there are mass shortages of retail workers. The article merely suggested that the posts are hard to fill.

And Tesla are trialling EV trucks for regional deliveries.

Truck drivers are at the tipping point, long range hours first.

Come on now. You are clutching at straws. I am pretty sure a Pizza Cook is a minimum wage job, has no prospects, and can be fully automated.

Just saying, just because the car can drive itself, doesn't mean it will. You have 100's of stumbling blocks to overcome, some of which are near impossible to overcome, before you get even close. Technology is not the issue here.

Good point! Aren't fail-safe systems already built into AI driverless, re pedestrians etc?

Even if they are, looks like it could be an idea for some authority to have the means to shut down any driverless vehicle whenever.

Is it me, or are the goal posts moving further and further away on Driverless, weren't we meant to see them on the road next year? Now it looks like 2020 or 2021. Wonder if it's going to be two years away for the next 10 years or so LOL.

It's you.

Musk has said he expects it to be viable to drive across the US next year (maybe, maybe not, it's musk time) but the Fords, etc. of this world have said 2021, and that hasn't changed significantly. As ever, it's going to be the edge cases that take 90% of the effort - which means automated with a driver in the drivers seat is likely to happen to the timeline. Totally driverless however is down to other factors.

My guess is the issue is likely to be politicians. They have conspicuously failed to get their fingers out on preparing - probably looking for the palms to be greeced.
