The world of automation

Re: The world of automation
Looks like the US is pushing ahead with driverless cars, with new light touch rules and the expectation that it will reduce accidents.

Deciding to stick to laptop form, and at the same time not wanting another Air and - even more so - not wanting anything to do with Windows ever again, we discovered the Chromebook. And in particular, the Google Pixel (the laptop, not the tablet called the Pixel-C or something like that).
Google's merged Android-Chrome OS 'Andromeda' may be teased on October 4th
Won't be out of beta till 2017, but there's a long list of existing chromebooks that are likely to get the update.

Re: The world of automation
This will be interesting. I just hope that Chrome OS isn't affected in any way in desktop form as it's a great system. And personally I don't like Android much, so all I'd like is to maybe use phone/tablet apps on my Chromebook in some sort of emulator mode.
Hopefully everything will move along smoothly and Chromebook users will enjoy greater perks without having any negative changes forced onto them in terms of the OS...

Battle of the drones is really heating up. Both GoPro and DJI announced new drones within the past week or two. I don't have a drone but when you see the DJI Mavic Pro, it's hard to not be curious.
Surprisingly, Australia's drone laws aren't too strict for non commercial use.

Building drones is great fun too
The FAA in the US has gone completely overboard on recreational drones whereas CASA has taken a more open approach - probably in the knowledge that something tht you can buy at BigW and JB HiFi is going to almost impossible to regulate

Melbourne just took a step backwards. WIFI. How retro. Apparently its "world class free Wi-Fi". I wonder if it completes with plain old 4G?

Melbourne just got free Wi-Fi
Melbourne just got free Wi-Fi
I'll agree that putting up municipal 4G towers might be a better bet - but that would really piss of Telstra ...... free bandwidth to all would kill their golden goose.

You'd have to be a special type of retard to do this:

Just goes to show that the iphone is basically a fashion accessory bought by teenage airheads
The mind boggles

Hilarious, but quite a mean prank to play.
I reckon apple will regret their decision to leave it out.
Samsung take note.

It's a followup to the "put your iphone in a microwave to recharge it" from two years ago. Typical 4chan prank to make fun of the clueless.

Unfortately more fell for "we aren't going to damage medicare, we are going to create jobs". You'd have thought the NBN would have clued them in to the lies...
Meanwhile the RBA have put in their two pennies on automation and jobs saying "the biggest threats will come in jobs that can be copied by technology" (gee, doyah thunk?)
unfortunately their understanding of 'non-routine' is horribly out of date, suggesting that "health care and social assistance sector" are safe - whereas the opposite is expected.

However, just the other day google announced their AI translator was getting closer to human standard - which is hardly routine cognitive.

Strangely, looking at the real rate, over a longer period, shows a different picture ...

You probably want to just roll over and move back to Automation ..... the graphs paint and ugly picture for your beloved Labor party and unemployment. They certainly don't help your lies about jobs.
