Well, that's a bit close for comfort!
Small bushfire broke out down our road this afternoon. Relatively small but close to properties so 2 waterbombing helicopters on the scene. Thankfully the wind (very strong, not helping the fire) has been blowing away from us and until I drove along the road had no idea what was going on.

Scary isn't it, i saw bushfire down the road from me when i lived in Perth, the flames were bellowing out onto the road..it was an arson attack though the bloody stupid idiots:curse:
Lets hope it gets put out and under control soon

I was up in Ravenshoe a couple of weeks ago & they were having some fires up there & it really freaked me. Despite all my research, I didn't know there were bushfires in the wet tropics

The main difference between the FNQ and big fires in NSW & Vic is the reduced number of big eucalypts. It's the eucalytpus oil that contributes significantly to the big fire fronts.

Saying on the news the fire was lit by arsonist Hope its under control now.

Considering how unseasonally dry it is in Cairns ATM, it comes as no surprise that the Tablelands is a tinderbox.
