Vale Daphne Oxenford... Listen with mother
A voice from my childhood, and possibly from a few others here, has now gone.
"Are you sitting comfortably, then I will begin".
Daphne Oxenford, who narrated listen with mother in the 50s and 60s, has passed away.
Does anyone else share childhood memories of her show?
RIP

Re: Vale Daphne Oxenford... Listen with mother
I used to listen to "listen with mother" when I was very young. I still use the phrase "are you sitting comfortably....." when I'm about to lecture my daughter....
They were happy days and whilst it's sad obviously for family and friends, she led a good long life!
PS Nice to see a bit of Latin on the forums!

I dimly remember her- I wasn't born when the king died (1952) and my mum was only 13!! I feel a little younger now- thanks guys.
