Sorry for nit-picking, but it's important to be clear on this issue. The vaccine allegedly prevents women from contracting two strains of human papillomavirus (HPV) which are believed to cause cervical cancer and two strains of human papillomavirus which are believed to cause genital warts.

Co-incidentally my wife came down the stairs this morning waving the said vaccination consent form. I had just seen on TV about the fatality, which my wife hadn’t seen or heard on the news.

After discussing this tonight, we have decided to not consent for our 15 year old daughter to have the jab at this stage.

Our son has recently been to Nepal and had just about every jab under the sun, with no ill effects, before he left. No problem there, as these are well known vaccines.

We think that medical technology on this particular vaccine needs to mature and be shown to be effective and safe.

The strains protected against are thought to be responsible for 70% of cervical cancers.

A girl who died shortly after being given a cervical cancer vaccine had a "serious underlying medical condition", an NHS Trust has said. NHS Coventry said the vaccination was "most unlikely to have caused the death" of Natalie Morton, 14.

She was given the Cervarix jab at Coventry's Blue Coat School on Monday and fell ill a few hours later. Earlier the government said a national cervical cancer immunisation programme should continue.

Dr Caron Grainger, joint director of public health for NHS Coventry and Coventry City Council, said the results of a preliminary post-mortem examination had "revealed a serious underlying medical condition which was likely to have caused death".

"We are awaiting further test results which will take some time," she said. "However indications are that it was most unlikely that the HPV vaccination was the cause of death."

[...]

The Department of Health has ordered the batch of vaccine to be quarantined as a precaution, but insists there is no reason to stop the programme. Meanwhile, the vaccine manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline, announced it was recalling the batch - AHPVA043BB - for testing.

Is that language used by a lot of vaccines because that is how they must state it by convention or is this one different?

Update:
A girl who was vaccinated against cervical cancer died from a malignant tumour and not from a reaction to the jab, it has been revealed.

Natalie Morton, 14, died after being given the Cervarix jab at the Blue Coat Church of England School in Coventry.

Deputy coroner for Coventry, Louise Hunt, said the vaccine was not thought to be a contributing factor, but the inquest would look into it.

A pathologist said the cause of death was a malignant tumour of the chest. It affected both her heart and lungs.

Puts a slightly different spin on the story, doesn't it? Very sad whatever the cause.

To be precise:

The 15-year-old pupil became cold, weak and dizzy less than an hour after the vaccine
"Cold, weak and dizzy". Not exactly the medical emergency of the year. I feel "cold, weak and dizzy" whenever we receive our council tax bill, but I don't call 999.

Oh well, if a "researcher" calls it a "mass experiment", then it must be bad.

Let's just check those figures again, shall we?

But of course, Britain's favourite newspaper never lets facts get in the way of a story.
