It's a gutless cop-out. One can only hope that the "SDA" will be referred to in Press reports as "Boaty One" and the baby sub as "Boaty Two". "Sir David Attenborough, DSO, Fellow of the Royal Institute, KCMG and Bar" - Dear God!

Get real - Boaty McBoatface was never going to fly - and to believe it was is extremely naive
Sir David Attenborough is an awesome name for a research ship - he's a living legend (with the living bit being extra cool). I hope he is around to see it being launched
I'm sure that the crew is going to nickname it BMBF
