Re: Queen calls "emergency meeting"
Maybe it's a viral marketing stunt to get us to watch the next season of "The Crown"?

Re: Queen calls "emergency meeting"
Its kind of odd, even if there were speculation or rumour on a topic, the Beep would report it as rumour and spec from x media outlet.
Something fishy going on.
Don't worry about the Guardian. They are going broke. Can't afford to staff 24/7 anymore.

Prince Phillip is alive apparently and the Queen will be announcing her abdication.
Source CPFC.ORG.
I'd rate that about 75pct certain.
Strange time of day to announce an abdication though.

Well, 8am has come and gone, and still nadda.
I guess it could be Harry announcing the day with the actress to draw attention away from Terresa May ....

Don't blame him. Not many 95 year olds could do what he does and nor would they want to. Hope he lasts a few more years though, awesome guy.

If there is one thing this should have made clear. The old 'wait till the morning to formally announce things' isn't likely to work in a 24 hour, global world. The story will be out and about well before they are ready, unless they are ready immediately. As I pointed out to others in related scenarios, you have about 30 mins, then the story is outside your control.

How bizarre : a 95 year old man should have stepped down from duties years before. They do keep on going, these Royals! It's a lot harder traipsing around fetes than it looks.

Good on Phil, top man. Hasn't it been wonderful watching these so-called reporters trying to fill 15 minute slots with 'we have no idea, but it could be.....' I bet he was pissing himself laughing.
