It's a completely pointless re-make. No need for it at all, and to cop that, it's a steaming pile of sh!t.

I love Qantas movies - I always watch all the Australian ones, most of which I never knew existed.

Stopovers aside (if you pick your flights well the Emirates FC lounge is a little sanctuary from the madness for an hour or so while they refuel) I've found transiting through Dubai difficult to work out when best to sleep - DXB-LHR is a bit short though you know it's the best time for your body clock - so in recent years I've watched far more movies than is good for my eyes, felt like crap when we got to LHR and still had to switch on our "happy to see you all" faces after a 200 mile drive, and it does seem a waste of a flatbed when we've scored a points upgrade.

It's a problem many would love to have but the older and less healthy I get, the worse I find the annual trip, so hoping this improves things a bit.

Very true about the Qantas lounge in DXB. It is very nice. The rest of the airport stinks.

Yehp agree re the Aussie Movies, I fell into the trap of watching some on my way to the UK on my last trip and was homesick for Aus before I actually arrived in the UK. I doubt I would have enjoyed Oddball in any other environment other than a plane to the UK. It was the scenery and familiarity with the locations that got me.

I watched Snowtown over breakfast SIN-MEL once...it didn't really set me up well for the rest of the day!

I did a slight Dtour through Snowtown on my trip to Port Lincoln earlier this year, wasn't exactly a highlight, At least I've been there and done that. Although Port Lincoln and the Spencer Gulf are both magnificent. Port Lincoln and Whyalla are both well worth the trip so don't let Snowtown put you off. In fact, I'll go back to both of those.

Back on topic, do you reckon it's worth doing that UK trip one leg from Perth, how would the Jetlag be after that, easier or worse? Or is that generally just totally individual? I'm never doing a trip to the UK without a 2 day stop over each way again, so Singapore appeals..... Unless this Perth leg is a goer ?

It has a 5AM arrival time into LHR...that's just nasty, hate that! Last couple of times I've taken Etihad arriving around lunchtime...much more civilised as far as I'm concerned.

And the A330's Qantas have been flying to Singapore suck. Old entertainment systems.

Assuming that means we get the newer planes back on the Singapore - Oz route?
Might get bacon back in the breakfast menu too. That's a win!

The longest I've done is Sydney to Dallas (talking of shit airports...) but my husband did do the 18 hour Singapore to New York when it was running and I don't think he found it too bad. Just boring.

We came back from the UK this year via a week in Boston, then home through LAX, so essentially just kept flying west and I hardly had any jetlag. Would consider that again, for sure.

I prefer arriving early morning. If we've managed to upgrade we're usually fine until about 8pm, otherwise we get where we're going (either 1 hour to Swindon or 4 or so up north, depending on which way we're doing it) and have a nap.

Great point. Bacon is a great meat. A fair portion of the world is missing out.

I did SIN-NYC as well and it was fine...but would be a very different experience to the Qantas PER-LHR flight. The Singapore plane was basically all premium economy / business. In economy the seat pitch was 37" and the seats were wide with 2-3-2 on an A340 (normally 2-4-2)...they also had a full leg rest. Qantas will be going 9 abreast on the 787 (like almost everyone else) so you're talking about a lot less personal space and wriggle room!
