Nick Kyrgios
It was exciting to see Nick beat Rafa at Wimbledon. The tennis world has been waiting for 10 years (38 of the last 40 majors won by the top 4) to see who might break the monopoly of Fed, Rafa, Djok and Andy and it could in time be Nick. Well done. I expected him to be top 10 and a possible Slam winner of the future when I saw him win the Australian Open boys on Rod Laver Arena in Jan 2013 but this has been a meteoric rise. He probably won't win this year but he will win Slams in future.
Apologies for intruding on the Rolf Harris and Oscar Pistorius threads with a good news story.

It's not often an Aussie can pull it out of the bag! Enjoy it while it lasts Oz.
You have now!
He'll soon be parading up and down in Armani underwear......

Tall poppy syndrome? Andy has done remarkably well and achieved remarkable things in his career including 2 slams and delivering Wimbledon after 77 years (of the English not being able to achieve it). He was clearly very nervous and under enormous pressure to repeat the feat this year and he had an off day which everyone is allowed to have. Like Kyrgios, to reach the quarter finals alone is a magnificent achievement and puts you in the top 8 tennis players on the planet.

I dont follow tennis but he did do well in that game. The news talked about him for 5 minutes but now its back to normal. No doubt the Aussie media will have him down as a future No1,better than anyone before him etc. I really dont miss that

No, you'd prefer being told you are going to win the World Cup and the Ashes. FWIW Kyrgios is a potential future No.1.

Re: Nick Kyrgios
Too early to tell but good luck to him and hopefully he doesn't go down the Tomic path.
It also shows how far Oz tennis has fallen that a young kid is so feted after being knocked out in the quarters.
