Really, my kids have said it tastes the same, tastes the same to me, although could be as It's been so long since I've had 'Marmite' - i'd have to have both in front of me and do the test!

Maybe the sea voyage from the UK changes it, sitting in the container ?

"Our Mate" is exactly the same as UK Marmite. It's the same stuff made in the same factory in England. The only difference is that they put a different label on it for legal reasons.
Loving the jingo though. So funny.

I reckon you're comparing UK marmite with Aus (actually NZ) marmite, which are different.

This one maybe http://www.britzinoz.com/uk-australi...marmite-au.gif
I noticed earlier that an online shop for selling stuff to Brits sells Our Mate for $6.99 when you can get it in Coles for $2.99. Talk about ripping off the gullible .

I know what you mean about the British shops ripping of the British. Terrys Chocolate oranges at $12 at the specialist shop, but $6 at Coles !!
But that Our Mate one that you mentioned, is much worse, as it is normally distributed here in Australia, and as ALDI and Coles both charge $2.99 it would almost appear to be an RRP.
I just found a comment from an employee of Marmite ...
Marmite as we know and love it is made at Burton on Trent, the exact same product can be found in Australia and NZ under the name of Our Mate! Made in Burton we just can't use the Marmite name, someone else owns it!!
Also most Marmite around the world is produced in Burton, it get shipped in big drums and just packed into a jar when it reaches its destination.
Any variation in taste or texture is usually down to temperature controls and storage not because its a different formulation.
Twiglets taste of Marmite as they use the same yeast extract, purchased from us!

Re: MARMITE..can i bring it in?
A number of years ago, I brought back a jar of Marmite from the UK and declared it at Customs.
The officer said in a jokey tone " You Poms and your Marmite! What's wrong with Vegemite?"
As I expected, he didn't wait around for an answer to that question

Will I be able to chuck a few (dozen) jars in our container when we ship our stuff?
